Dr. Karim Benabdel Lah has a degree in biological sciences and a PhD from the University of Granada, where he also teaches.  Accumulates more than 3 six-year periods of research. He is the author of 43 indexed scientific articles, 15 of them as a leader. Dr Benabdellah has directed 5 doctoral theses. In addition, it has generated 6 patents (3 of which are licensed). Currently, Dr Benabdellah is Principal Investigator of the Nicolas Monardes program of the Andalusian regional Ministry of Health, and focuses his research activity on improving the practices of cancer immunotherapy based on CAR-T through genomic editing tools, among other approaches. He is principal investigator of several national, international and regional project. He is the Chair of the European action Genome Editing to Treat Humans Diseases” (GenE-Humdi) CA21113 coordinating 22 European countries. Finally, one of the projects focused in exosomes application, has been recently  awarded in the last edition of the ROCHE Zinkinn Andalusia awards

Dr. Francisco Gabriel Ortega Sanchez has a degree in biochemistry from the University of San Luis and PhD in Biomedicine from the University of Granada. He performed postdoctoral investigation in 2 of the most prestigious research institutions around the word, Weizmann Institute and University of Utrecht. He has led most than 20 research works, which have been published in the best scientific journals worldwide as Science Advances, Analytical Chemistry, Surgery, TRAC and Talanta, between others. Nowadays, Dr. Ortega is stablishing his own research line and forming people in the field of Extracellular Vesicles (EVs). He is focus in the molecular and proteomic characterization of EVs as biomarker in multiple diseases, as well as, in the role of EVs in tissue regeneration and inflammation. Currently, Dr. Ortega has obtained important supports from national and regional institutions as Carlos III Health Institute, Andalusian Consul, Ramón Areces Foundation and University of Granada. 

Dr. Teresa Valero has a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Granada and a PhD from the University of Freiburg, Germany, obtained in 2013 as Marie Curie ESR the European RTN Project CELLCHECK. As a truly multidisciplinary scientist she has dedicated her career to the development of innovative technologies to streamline diagnostics and drug discovery, paying special attention to the transfer of knowledge. Working in most prestigious groups of 4 European countries (UK, Germany, Greece, Spain), she has received the support of the most prestigious international funding (>700k € overall within 4 MSCA Marie Curie projects, 1 European SME project as PI, 3 proof of concept grants), published in top journals (Biosens Bioelectron, J Med Chem, Angew Chem, Cancer Res) with >300 cites, invited to international conferences (MSCA Cancer Cluster), an industrial secret and a patent. Since 2021, she works as Marie Curie IF fellow at the Department of Medicinal and Organic Chemistry at the University of Granada and GENyO, under the European Project TARGETOF. Her current research focusses on the development of novel diagnostic platforms based on nanotechnology and solid phase chemistry with a special focus on extracellular vesicles and liquid biopsy. This research is being protected by a patent application and was rewarded with a technology transfer grant, which will support the development of these ideas during the next years.

Juan Antonio Marchal (MD, PhD) is a Full Professor of Human Anatomy and Embryology (Faculty of Medicine) at the University of Granada (UGR). He got his PhD in 1996 in this university working on the implementation of a novel differentiation therapy against human rhabdomyosarcoma and received the 1996 PhD Excellence award for his dissertation. In 1997 he was funded by a postdoctoral fellow by the Ministry of Health (Instituto de Salud Carlos III-ISCII) and from 1998 to 1999 he was lecturer at two Universities (University of Almería and University of Jaen). From 1999 to 2011 he was associate professor at both the University of Jaen (1999 to 2006) and the University of Granada (2006 to 2011) and, since April 2011, as a full professor. Moreover, Dr. Marchal has been visiting scholar at several Universities (Universitá degli Studi di Sassari, Italy; Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador) and research institutions (CIBO-Centro de Investigación Biomédica de Occidente, Guadalajara, México).

Dr. Marchal is corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Granada District since 2006, and coordinator of 2 Doctoral Programs with Quality Mention and 2 Official Masters. He has participated in 57 National and international projects (25 as PI), in 245 publications in journals (220 included in JCR) and he is author of 40 national and international books and book chapters. He has received 12 research awards, among them the I Prize for Health Research of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, the award of the Social Council of UGR (2015) or the recent award UGR of Research to transference of knowledge (2020). He is evaluator of projects for Biomedical Research and Health Sciences (Junta de Andalucía), European Research Council (ERC, EU), Agencia Estatal de Investigación and the ISCII, (AEI, Ministry of Science and Innovation, Spain), the Dutch Cancer Society (Holland), the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), the French National Research Agency (ANR, France), the National Science Centre (Nauki – Polonia), Det Norske Veritas Business Assurance España S.L. He is the director of the research group “CTS-963: Advanced therapies: Differentiation, Regeneration and Cancer”, the Chair Drs. Galera and Requena of Cancer Stem Cell Research (https://cancercmc.ugrmecenazgo.es/la-catedra-cancer-cmc/; https://www.facebook.com/CancerCMC/) and the Singular Laboratory of Biofabrication and (bio) 3D printing (BioFabi3D) at UGR. He is scientific advisor of the radiobiochemistry and immunoanalysis service of the Scientific Instrumentation Center and member of the Advisory Board of the International Postgraduate School of UGR. Moreover, he has been member of the standing committee of the Scientific Council and coordinator of Research Area at the Biosanitary Research Institute ibs.GRANADA and member of the Governing Board of Biopathology and Regenerative Medicine Institute (IBIMER). Moreover, Prof. Marchal is member, promoter and guarantor of the Excellence Research Unit “Modeling Nature: From nano to macro” –MNat. Also, he is member of the Andalusian network of CAR therapies (RANTECAR) and the Spanish Network of Advances Therapies (TERAV, Ministry of Science and Innovation, Spain). Dr. Marchal has one Transference period accredited by CNEA, is inventor of 33 patents (6 licensed) and is Co-founder of the EBT Regemat 3D (http://www.regemat3d.com/), Lentistem Biotech S.L. (http://www.lentistem.com/) and the Spin-off PKR-Exogenetics S.L., and scientific advisor of Propanc Biopharma, Inc. (http:// www.propanc.com/). He has active collaborations and contracts with several biotech companies such as Bioibérica SAU, BrecaHealth Care, Propanc Biopharma, StemTek, Cellulis, Crystalgel, Canvax Biotech, 3D Biotech,of in the international EUROSTARS call (EXP00084122/CIIP?20152006) in collaboration with the company Canvax Biotech, Proteros (https://www.proteros.com/) and Eurofins (https://www.eurofinsdiscoveryservices.com/), a program to support R&D-intensive PYMES in the development of market-oriented transnational projects.

Sergio Granados Principal is Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 2 (School of Pharmacy) at the University of Granada, is co-leader of the research group “Ae-23: Integrative and Translational Oncology” at ibs.GRANADA, and co-Principal Investigator of the research group “Liquid Biopsy & Cancer Interception” at Pfizer-University of Granada-Junta de Andalucía Centre for Genomics and Oncological Research (GENYO). In 2008, Dr. Granados earned a Ph.D. degree from the University of Granada by studying the molecular mechanisms exerted by minor compounds from olive oil against breast cancer and his dissertation was awarded with a Ph.D. Excellence award. From 2009 to 2011, he was an interim Assistant Professor at the University of Granada (Dept. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 2). From 2011 to 2015, Dr. Granados was a postdoctoral researcher at the Houston Methodist Research Institute to investigate novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets related to cancer stem cells, recurrence, and metastases in triple-negative breast cancer. In 2015, Dr. Granados earned a Miguel Servet research contract from Health Institute Carlos III, at the University Hospital of Jaén and GENyO, to continue his investigations on biomarkers and therapeutic targets, and novel treatments to fight cancer stem cells, recurrence, and metastases in triple-negative breast cancer patients. In 2020, Dr. Granados obtained a position as an Assistant Professor, followed by a position as an Associate Professor in 2022 at the University of Granada. Since 2019, Dr. Granados is investigating new nanoplatforms based on biomimetic medicine and immunotherapy to treat cancer and is developing xenograft mouse models and organoid cultures both derived from triple-negative breast cancer. Dr. Granados has mentored four Ph.D. students and is supervising three predoctoral fellows and two postdoctoral researchers. He has participated in 12 R+D projects (4 as PI) and 7 R+D contracts with industry (2 as PI). He has published 44 papers (7 as last/corresponding author), 1 book, 11 book chapters, and 31 international and 10 national communications. He is also inventor of 4 national patents and 1 international patent. Dr. Granados is reviewer of national and international grants (European COST Actions, Flemish Cancer Society, Worldwide Cancer Research, or Regional Government of Andalusia), deputy Coordinator of Grant Reviewers (Regional Government of Andalusia, 2021-today), and reviewer in international journals (i.e. Advanced Science, Science Advances, or Theranostics, among others). He earned 6 awards, including the international award “AACR-Susan G. Komen Scholar-In-Training Award” by Susan G. Komen Foundation (USA), and is member of the “American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)” and “Spanish Group for Breast Cancer Research (GEICAM)”.
