Use of artificial intelligence to automate the analysis of complex behaviors of experimental animals.

Description

MOUSEdata is based on the use of artificial intelligence to automate the analysis of complex behaviors of experimental animals. To achieve this, we have developed two devices: the Face Analyzer and the Mouse PhenoScreener. The first can quantify pain by analyzing facial expressions of 8 mice at once, while the second can track the relative position of a mouse’s key anatomical features to classify what actions the mouse is performing at any given moment. For these analyses, our devices use an artificial vision algorithm based on a convolutional neural network, to generate a file with the numerical values.

The target market for MOUSEdata focuses on preclinical researchers, both in academia and the pharmaceutical industry. The primary potential users are researchers aiming to evaluate animal behavior to determine the impact of new drugs, therapies, and disease models.

The societal value of MOUSEdata lies in improving our understanding of the behavioral responses of rodents in models of disease to accelerate the development of new treatments for human diseases. This is achieved through the use of a precise and efficient tool that we believe has the potential to revolutionize preclinical research.
